Growing Up

I'm here you're there what a gap My soul is old but I'm not wise You speak of things I know nothing about I would never dream of acting like you But you're high on the pole at the top And I've still got some learning to do So I'll go up this mountain of age It has things for me that I need It's time to leave childhood behind Yet that is all I know can I move on? Fear grips me as I realize I must Take a deep breath step through the door The rain washes me on the other side Turns out maturity is something new It seems different and yet the same But I can never go back to before Your hand grabs mine and leads me It wasn't as hard as I thought Now it's done I can go on The future and the rest of my life awaits
