Growing

Dear Body Dismorphia,

For years I watched you controll me.

Looking in the mirror I saw what you wanted me to see.

The scale was my best friend.

My happiness, I watched it end.

Crying at night because of a number,

Stomach growling loud as thunder.

You made me hate myself,

And all that food up on the shelf.

But then one day I'd had enough.

Those past four years had been so tough.

It was time I decided, to be happy again,

With myself I'd make amends.

With kindness and love I took back what was mine,

Eventuallly I realized I would be fine.

Thats why I'm writing this letter, to let you know,

That like a flower I've begun to grow.

And although I see you from time to time,

Freedom and self love is finally mine.

Sincely,

M.
