Growing Up

Grow up in a smalll town, seeing the world with sunshine and rainbows

Few years later the color in life fades like an old tattoo

You see the struggles

The fights

The sudden loss of hope

People self medicating

Cutting

Hurting from within

seeming quiet and content to the outside world

I've known others who wish it all to end

 who have planned their deaths

I know the darkness in peoples hearts

I know the demons that take shelter in the deepest parts of my mind

Where no light seems to hit

I saw and listened the horrors of the outside world by the news

The shameful eyes watching over you at all times

The chains we wear to just fit in

Mentally incarcerated

The pain of life hits you like a freight train

 your adrenaline rushes

Forcing you to lose your self

and transform into something that can at least bear the pain

I’m now in a city

Even though it may be crowded

There’s more sunlight and freedom

I’ve seen innocence,

Ive seen pain

I’ve seen love

growing up is a violent rollercoaster of emotions

without pain and the ugliness of life

You can never understand the beauty.

I’ve seen the beauty

Thats the turning point in which I realized

I’ve finally grown up.
