Growing up

One day we will walk out the door And see the world like we haven't before. When you’re a child things are great. There are no limits, you just let it be You run around and play and feel carefree. Did I want to grow up? Never! I told myself I wanted to be five years old forever. As time passes nothing stays the same You even start to think school is lame. You act “mature”; you’ll think you’re cool To the point where you think don’t even need school When high school comes everything turns around Like if the things you once knew had turned upside down We lose our friends we thought we knew Or how your first love went from bright red to dark blue Being obedient and disciplined is all you have now There is no explaining how Just do your homework, be respectful Most importantly, being responsible A best word of advice: You must always think twice. Growing up is hard, I know It’s a path everyone has to go If you’re in pain, do not cry Because there is still a time for you to fly If you keep moving along And carry on You’ll find yourself and know where you belong Because like I said in the beginning One day we will walk out the door And see the world like we haven't before.
