Growing Up

When I was a kid

Ten dollars seemed to be a lot of money.

I could buy oh so much,

And still come back with change.

But now, the ten dollar bill is the new dollar bill to me.

When I want to buy something worthwhile,

I need like seven or eight of them.

That's because I'm no longer a kid.

My wants, needs, and responsibilites have matured.

Instead of spending my allowance on Mountain Dew and Skittles,

I am now saving paychecks for car insurance and oil changes.

Once I stopped spending money on silly things

And started spending it on things adults normally would buy,

That is when I realized I wasn't a kid anymore.
