Growing Up

I remember when life used to be at ease

Everyone seemed easy to please

Everything was considered fun

And most things were easily done

I could be flying a kite

While also taking a hike

I might tell stories in bed

While having wild thoughts in my head

But then, things start becoming stale

The colors seem to turn pale

Wonder starts getting lost

And logic is the only thing that's brought

I then start losing rest

Anxiety ramping up my chest

Tasks start becoming a chore

And everything turns into a bore

Life flashes before my eyes

When I realize that everyone dies

A darker shade also starts to glow

The more things I know

Taxes, debts, disease

The crowd becomes harder to please

I might lose my will

And end up taking a pill

But, it's not all bad

There is still fun to be had

I could work for charity

Or maybe give someone more clarity

I could become a figure

That everyone could consider

As long as I impact

By sanity can stay intact

So all in all,

You do not need a ball

To live a satisfying life

You just need to be kind

With a society bind

And everyone would look at you bright
