Growing UP

I am growing up.

But I am not a grown up.

I am an

Adult

That word doesn’t mean anything.

Until it does.

I have

Responsibility.

Something you have to earn.

And  you can receive unwillingly

Responsibility is money.

For a car payment

Or a cell phone bill.

Responsibility is not always putting yourself first.

Legal

Something that happens when you turn 18

Sometimes you can be considered an adult legally.

I am a legal adult.

But I am not a real adult.

I have the pleasure of selecting to pay the bills…

Of my choosing.

My parents graciously pay the rest

With my part time retail job

I can’t afford real responsibility

But I do have responsibilities at work.

This responsibility

Given to me by coworkers and a manager

Has opened my eyes to see what it is really like

To be a grown up.

I have grown up.

But I am not a Grown Up.
