Growing Up

No place like home

So I never turned around

Skinned my knees and

Sunflowers grew through the cracks you left

Piecing together the scraps

Of worn out jeans

And shiny things

I left in your backyard

Confused stars with streetlights

Just to fill the spaces

A collective shut of eyes

Etched like lazy pencil lines

I hate the view from behind the glass

Making art from earthly things

Beat up shoes and

Aching hearts tattooed
