Growing Up

The hardest part of growing up

Is dealing with regrets

Accepting there's no going back

One chance is all I get

Facing dream I once had

That now won't come true

And knowing they can't be achieved

And there's nothing now to do

Recalling choices that I've made

That clearly changed my life

Times when I retreated

When I should have stood to fight

Devoting little energy

To the owkr i do each day

While investing little in myself

As my life slips away

Not working hard on friendships

Or on the family in my home

So in these stages of life

I find myself alone
