Growing Up

Sometimes growing up

Is like the first day of school.

You aren't sure what to do,

You aren't sure who you are,

Or what you want

For lunch or for life.

The second day of school

Is like the day you're done growing.

You realize you did it wrong,

But you know who you are

And who your friends are,

And what you want

Though you didn't get it.

The second day,

You're content.

You found out what you want,

Who you are, what to do.

It really is a good day.

But still, what you wouldn't give

To take you knowledge, go back, and relive

That first day of school.
