Growing up is never easy

In fact it’s the hardest thing we’ll do

We learn how to respect others

And how to respect ourselves

 

We always do the best we can

And even then it may not seem like enough

We have to deal with disappointing others

Sadly it is often unavoidable

 

Everyone has expectations

Some more than others

Whether it’s to become a doctor

Or just have a simple job

 

Pressure can come from anyone

Parents, friends, or teachers

Get good grades, get a good job

They mean well but aren't always helpful

 

You can’t please everyone

That is just a fact of life

The main thing to remember

Is to follow your own path when growing up
