Growing Up Can Be Tough

Growing up can be tough

It can also be carefree

Though my best friend had it rough

And growing up happened early on for me

She tried to end it all

Then she spent some time away

Her doctors had made the call

So by her side, I was every day

Lost in the moment like a dream

I saw what real life was like

I was only thirteen

It’s hard to see someone you love in that light

But she is much better now

And here I am, more understanding anyhow
