Growing cold against the world

I don’t think anyone will ever get to know what had occurred to her. As we grew old and further apart, you’ll have a special part in my heart.

She single-handedly molded her figure

Never will someone assume she needed help

She gave illusion to be almost perfect

Conveyed to remain secluded of conflict

If I knew anything from what I learned

There's always a story that needs to be heard

I could only try to be closer with her

To see why she grew colder against the world

She was on her way to become a prospect

She's beautiful and I really wish she knew it

For everyone, a chance with her was contest

Anyone with a chance, only ever blew it

Each day, I picked further into the thick clay

Only to see, she was rotting with conflict

Everything true about her was shoved away

And I looked into what she really was and is

You see, this girl grew up with an abusive father

She couldn’t call herself daughter

And her mother grew up as a drug addict

But only her father had a title: convict

It never seemed there was enough money in the wallet

But while her mom remained a fiend

She was her real only hero and queen

Because even people who use drugs

Can also show some of the best love

Even when it was missing from her father

But she only used that to become stronger

This is what I learned about the girl

And saw why she grew cold with the world

As I became close with this girl

I knew she had feelings for me

I could only wish I felt the same

I didn't know what love was

I might never know

Yet knowing I was capable of it at the moment

Without fully grasping it made it as if

As if I was drowning and couldn't reach the life-saver

Yet as the relationship crumbled

My heart that did not feel, felt pain

I wish I could have said I loved her

And mean it.
