Growing Up For Freedom
I feel scared, and alone
Always the shy one when it comes to you.
Raised me since a child, protected me from others
Given me the best, made me smile and you knew
I wouldn't disobey, not after all you've said.
Since young i've adapted, to your beliefs and your reason
But what i learned throught my years, is not a fantasy nor a dream,
its a reality I know I can achieve, through work and perseverance;
I went through humiliation, struggled through your constant oppression.
Yet why do you hurt me? Crushing all my aspirations, as if it was part of my imagination.
Aren't I your child? Why do you limit my growth? You say to grow up, and I try to stand up.
And you say i'm immature, and unprepared for the world. May I ask what child is prepared?
Not one child was ever prepared. They were groomed to find their own meaning in life.
So when they leave the nest, the child will gain experience by itself. Not a single person on this earth,
Is who they are without relying on oneself. I have gained what I can by your side.
I will not stand your oppresion to my freedom. I will leave to be free and achieve what I wish for in life.
Leaving when you know there is better future when relying on yourself, That is growing up.
