Growing Pains

Sleep was no longer my friend

Work was piled beside me

thoughts "Could I last til' the end?"

My brain could no longer sleep

My eyes were as dry as cotton

My feet ached through my socks

Was this life what being an adult is?

"These pains are worth it." I think not

These pains will make you grow stronger

These pains will make you at peace

These pains, I can't take much longer

These pains, with growing, won't cease
