Growing Pains

When I was just five years old

I had Growing Pains.

The kind that made your legs ache, and your eyes

Water.

When I turned nine years old

I had Growing pains.

That kind that hurt your heart

A different kind of pain.

When I was thirteen years old

I had Growing Pains.

The kind that hurt me

As well as those around.

Now I am seventeen years old

I still have Growing Pains.

But after looking back I see

The ways in which I have grown

In beauty, pain, joy, and strength.

Because of these Growing Pains.
