Growing Pains

Like a small seed beginning to sprout from the soil

A story of many chapters begins

The plot of a life's story cannot spoil

As the small, naive child widely grins

Not foreseen are the pains that come with growing

The cuts, the bruises, the bleeding

The numbing and losing of feeling

The thoughts that keep us awake when we should be sleeping

However, newfound growth does pain bring

And spring flowers blossom with soaring color

The story of life is a beautiful thing

Growing pains won't make you smaller.
