A Growing Plant

Dance. A mentor for many humans.

Including myself.

It has shown me the

Good

Bad

And

Ugly

of the world

FIRST HAND.

Trust me

I've seen it all:

People who drop out of a prior dance commitment last minute

Those who've told me to give up on my goals because they feel insecure about themselves

Racism within the dance community

Competitiveness amongst dancers

Producing a dance production in under 2 weeks with little time to rehearse or practice

etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.

The list goes on         and on  and on     and on and       on.

I grow in my confidence and work ethic whenever I dance.

A plant needs sunlight in order to grow.

I am the plant. Dance is the sun.

Whenever the sun is out, I take in its light rays. Photosynthesis occurs. I grow.

I give my creativity and passion back into the air we breathe.

Dance taught me how to be resilient, have thick skin, and persevere when I want to accomplish something

Even when people say I can't do something,

I fight for what I wanted to accomplish and will not stop until I get it.

Such a fighting spirit for such a small plant.

Thank you for all you've done

Dance.

If it wasn't for you, I would be a discolored, weak seed still searching for its source of light. Crying out for guidance. For help.

Instead, I'm an a healthy, green plant

Who's ready to take on the world.
