Growing up scarred

In my youth, a scar on my face

Caused by a mistake in birth

Led me to an empty place

Where I did not expect mirth.

I retreated to my room in torment

For I could not comprehend

That the jokes were just meant

To help my turmoil mend.

For years this would repeat

I grew up alone

My lesson came from the meat

Rather than the bone.

Eventually i would learn

That resilience is key

For when trying to earn

Any confidence for me
