Growing Starr

Walking across the stage is so near

I can’t stop the tears

The memory of my childhood flash before me

Staring at the images like they were a movie

Learning while I explored the world

And what it would have to give me

From several heart breaks

To moving away from you family, friends, life

I grew stronger

I learned who I was, who I’m meant to be in this world

Though I see flaws

They give the cause to push myself for change for the better

It wasn’t till the day I held a little boy

Who’s face reminded me of someone

My oldest sister, my closest sibling

That was the day I learned I wasn’t the baby anymore

I was a young aunt

Someone to teach my nephew
