Growing up is a trap

Senior year!

The day you’ve waited for your whole high school career

homecoming, done

spirit week, done

ACT, SAT, AP tests? DONE

”you’ll miss high school”

“yeah, right!”

and then, graduation

and also.... the dreaded question, the dinner table topic,

”what are your plans for after high school”

well, to be honest, i didn’t think that far

you see, i was busy “carpe diem-ing” to think about that

summer comes & goes and your first day of college arrives!

you see all the eager, bright faces of ADULTS.

and that’s when the anxiety sets in.

you lay awake at night questioning everything

you worry about paying for college, rent, food

you spend your days working to pay for them

there isn’t much time to think & plan and your inner demons take over

you see, i’m still in that part. i lay awake at midnight writing this

the more i sit & think in this moment, the deeper the realization gets that i......

am an adult?
