The Growing Tree

“The Growing Tree” I am a tree Who grows stronger each day Nothing will stop me from reaching my goals What’s that you say? That my goals aren’t easy But who said they were Don’t worry about me I’ll stay here You see I plan to stay strong Doesn’t matter how long I won’t give up the fight I’ll do what is right I hear on the news That Latinos don’t go to college It takes knowledge Not color That isn’t something new But many don’t have a clue My race doesn’t define where I’ll go My actions do Stereotypes don’t matter to me I’m unique and I’ll always be.
