Grown Up

I am left with frustration

after leaving everything to my imagination.

I thought nothing mattered

but now I am beaten and battered.

I could not wait to grow up

only to realize the world is corrupt.

I am jealous of the boy I once was

the one unable to see all the flaws...

Then again, change is expected

and really, there is no method.

Despite sitting with fear

I look forward to every year.

And as much as I would like to stay in the past

time would quickly surpass.

So this is to growing older

I don't want it to be over.
