Grown and Thrown

"Mom!

When are you taking me to the doctor's?"

She laughs.

"You can't take yourself, eh?"

I trip over the dog toy on the floor.

My brain's automatic response: "Mother, what you sayin'?"

Lucky for me, my voice takes over.

"Oh yeah, of course"

I hop into my Toyota Tundra Truck

Blasting music to hype myself up

Following Google Maps to the doctor's office,

I park-crooked per usual.

I race inside

Yes I am late

I realize

Cannot blame that on my parents anymore!

Millions of questions dance in my head

Do I need my ID?

Did I forget anything?

Is everyone staring at me?

Opening the door in a grand gesture

I stride into the room

The doctor asks, "Are you alone?"

I nod, "I'm all grown up, you see!"
