There are days and years that I have spent learning whom I wished to be,

Days and years making mistakes and leading a life I shouldn't have lived,

Hours of talking about and doing things better left alone,

Things that will stay with me for years,

regrets? sure I have them,

Pain? I've tasted its grit,

Sorrow? I've drank your drink,

But through all things I find strength in a new day,

Joy in every sunrise is a gift from God,

For my regrets I turn to consoling words,

My pain becomes my strength,

My sorrow becomes my joy,

Am I doing it right? Not yet,

Will I? In time all things are possible,

For each day I will change and adapt to be whom I seek to be,

The man I am today is not who I will be tomorrow,

That in itself is a gift
