Growth
I have never really been considered an open book,
But because you love me,
I have learned to open my front cover,
And let my insides spill everywhere.
Because I love you I don’t mind being a mess,
Knowing that you will clean me up afterwards.
You have taught me that love is not always pleasant,
Because you love me you never bite your tongue.
I love you because you’re always truthful with me.
I came from a household where yelling was always present.
I’ve always assumed that is what I should expect from a significant other,
But you have taught me that words can coddle me as well as you do.
You have taught me that words are not meant to be rough,
Words are meant to help shape others,
Like you have shaped me into who I am.
I know now that you always see me in the best light,
Even when I don’t deserve such.
I love you because I am the best with you.
