growth

i woke up one day, not too long ago

the bright, futuristic sun pierced my eyes

and i was impaired by my towering responsibilities

i shut my eyes again, and focused on my intentions

and on the promising future just beyond the blinding rays of light

and as my anxieties eased, and my fears are laid to rest,

i reopen my eyes to the beautiful life that has been here all along, waiting for me

i realized, somewhere along the way,

that my switch had been shut off

that i had stopped living, loving, creating and growing

i was trapped, and it was dark

and it was lonely

but i grounded myself, planted myself,

reached deep inside and turned that switch back on

and i intend to allow light to shine down into my vessel,

as i water the seeds i have planted,

and wait to witness the growth
