Guardian Angel

Guardian angels watch over

They are strong

A shoulder to cry on

But have you ever asked them

If they are okay?

The answer will always be

“Yeah I’m fine!”

But they are lying

Guardian angels have to watch over

Be strong

Be a shoulder to cry on

Because that is what is expected

But this angel’s wings are falling

Her halo’s glow fading

No one wants to look at her

Listen to her

Why should they?

She is no use to them now

No one wants help

From an angel with clipped wings

And a broken halo

No one wants help

From the one who doesn’t have the strength

To handle her own thoughts

Much less others’

Who is this guardian angel supposed to ask

When she can’t be

What is needed of her

After all, a guardian angel is suppose to watch over

Be strong

Be a shoulder to cry on

They aren’t supposed to be the ones

Crying

Sobbing

Begging for help

To escape the evil thoughts that run amok

They aren’t supposed to be the ones

Broken

Barren

Frozen with the worry

That nothing can save them from this hell

So they aren’t

They pick themselves up

Fix their halo

Lift their wings

And continue to watch over

Be strong

Be a shoulder to cry on
