Guiding Light

I left what seems so long ago Never been so sad to step on a plane Feeling as alone as the people of Argo Must I remain in this desolate state of Maine? Three dreary weeks have gone farther fast Yet she sits over one thousand miles away I imagine her in my arms as if the past Soon the sun will rise on our reunion day Yes! Yes! That day is nearly here! Three months, two weeks, and one day of strength Kissing, hugging, and Oh! Her sweet voice I hear No longer shall she be farther than my arm's length Now I look to the future with the sun so bright I know she will last for she is my guiding light

I wrote this poem about the time I am currently spending away from my girlfriend. I tried to make the poem reflect the summer. The closer that summer comes to an end the closer I am to seeing her again.
