Guiding Light

The solid ground when the earth is quaking,

My dose of love when my voice is shaking,

The sails that steer me toward success,

The ones in which my sins I confess.

Who wipes my tears in both sadness and laughter,

And say that it’s me they’ll always look after.

When friends come and go and boys cause trouble,

They pull me away from the burning rubble.

I thank God for this blessing every day,

For the love they’ve given me in every way.

Through the pain and anguish of parent’s divorce,

I felt I had love from a stronger force.

When my grades were slipping and I lost who I am,

And I felt like I no longer had a plan.

They lifted me up with words of hope,

And when times got tough, they helped me cope.

They watched me take my very first breathe,

And held my hands as I took my first steps.

Because of them I grew up to be strong,

In a world so dark, I now know I belong.

They made fun of me,

For always following their lead,

But I came to find out

Sisters are really all that you need.
