Guilty

I'm sorry earth.

I’m sorry that you have been constantly treated like you are not the source to our lives.

Sorry that you have been constantly suffering because people are blind when you want them to see.

Sorry that you had made a paradise for us to live in, but we wanted more.

You see earth, we were selfish and wanted to create what you had not given.

We wanted more, more than what you gave us, more than the wealth of fresh air, more than the cold blue sea, more than your masterpiece painted in the sky.

More is what we wanted, so we built upon your beauty without realizing.

We built higher, killed more, took everything.

Soon you got sick, and when your cried for help, we were deaf.

I’m sorry that we burnt your beautiful surface, sorry that we poisoned your waters and air.

Sorry that we took the many lives you created.

We are guilty of killing you.

We are the ones who murdered billions and laughed while we gathered at the table.

We are apathetic. You are worth more than anything, yet you’re seen as nothing.

I’m sorry that this apology will not fix what we had done to you.

I hope one day we’ll hear you, one day we’ll see.

We can change.

I love you earth, don’t give up on us.
