Gus

Gustavo. A blind believer in happiness and luck. The brother I never had.

He is the battery for when I am tired of eating, breathing, taking in the light.

He opens my eyes, forces me to see the sun, and in return, he asks for nothing.

Gustavo is the sun for me, the thing in the universe that I now I need the most.

No, we're not blood related, yet my blood, his blood, cut from the same tree.

I am the branches that sway, that shake, afraid from the trunk.

He is the roots that provide me with nutrients and keep me firm on this earth.

I need his sincere words as a tree needs the sun and water because they keep me firmly on the ground, my eyes on the truth.

His words remind me of everything I was before, and with his heavy accent, I can laugh and remember how beautiful the world is.

With his familiar voice, I can live and breathe, knowing that no day will be dark because he radiates my world.
