Haikus for Jasmine
Ivory blossom,
sweet symbol of purity,
gently reeking of
purple sugar and
green leafy musk, she suspends
her petals from within.
Dangling above a
wrought iron doorway, she waits.
Not for Aladdin
to pluck her from stem,
but for the gardener king
to remove his shears.
Deep in that floral castle,
Jasmine has been forced to bloom;
her garden, a tomb.
