hair
It always starts slowly
Growing up that is
One day you're just a regular kid
The next you're just a regular kid
But hairy
Every pore on your body emits
Mass
Quantities
Of hair
Your friends and foes alike
View you as the hairy kid
Yet one thing has changed
And that thing is sadly immeasurable
Your appearance alone has stripped you of your
Childlike glee
Unwavering innocence
And most importantly
The title of child
The adults see your scruff
The girls see your arms
The teachers see your legs
And the world
Well
The world sees a man
Not an awkward lanky hairy Greek
14 year old boy
But a man who is to be treated as such
Goodbye to kind old women pinching your cheek
Goodbye to innocence and the benefit of the doubt
Goodbye to a perception of life unfairly stolen away
One only knows they're growing
When the world has decided they're grown
