Half Brother

Dear Big Bro,

I wanna scream,

but nothing comes out.

My mouth becomes dry

when I try to shout.

I’m so confused.

Tell me, what did I do?

My heart is abused

and filled with doubt.

Everything is wrong

when it’s supposed to be right.

Every now and then

I just want to fight.

Fight who? Fight you

and I want you in my life

but when I need you the most

you’re nowhere in sight.

And then you come back

so I forgive you, once again.

It’s like I’m putting you out my life

just to let you back in

because I’m the same me

that I was form back then

But you changed.

They tell me blood is thicker than water

and that’s when it hits me

I can never compete with them

If their 100% and I’m only 50

and I’m not trying to take their place

but c’mon, let’s just admit we

never talk.

I remember when we were kids

We would talk all of the time.

Now I can’t get a quick hello

Or even a simple goodbye.

Even though I should give up

I still continue to try

But for what?

I guess being connected by blood

just isn’t enough

We’re supposed to be family

but family keeps in touch

Maybe the brotherly love

isn’t for the half-bloods.

Just wanted one minute of your time

but I see that’s still too much.

See, you’re my half brother

but you’re not half of the brother that you used to be

Although I seem to have amnesia

Because I forgive half the things you do, but see

Forgiving you over and over

would be like not being true to me,

So no more second chances

My kindness has turned to cruelty.

Answer me,

Where do I go

When I need brotherly advice?

And who do I call

When guys don’t treat me right?

Man, you’re supposed to be Big Bro

Lately you’ve been MIA

But it’s your choice to be in my life, or not

I’m not begging you to stay

I’m realizing it’s a lost cause

so I won’t waste another day

‘cause sometimes you have to know

when it’s time to walk away.

Love,

Little Sis
