Halved

When I look back, two souls intertwined, I wonder, why did you lie? What would’ve happened if I’d died? Your words hit good and true, If I’d taken that jump, maybe I’d be less bruised They struck a note I didn’t realise I could play Or my heart wouldn’t bare those scorch marks all over, Like a symphony of music that burned through my veins Buried too deep was my hurt, All at once I felt your pain, Oh, if only I wish you’d learnt, Would we, could we ever be the same? Learnt how much I’d loved, not being able to share my soul Laughing and joking, making dreams the two of us lived in, If only we’d met those many years ago, Now, all I wonder is, how have you been? Maybe we’d be happy, even if I can’t fathom those dreams now, Maybe I could’ve been better for you.
