Hammock

As I lay on the only thing I have from my home

The hammock I have from my child hood

I listen to loneness and sound of the ocean

Between two unknowns, I live my life.

I think, Dear God, and remember

There are stars we haven’t heard from yet:

I think, and I feel almost comforted.

Just maybe a taste of home.

I lay back as the darkness takes over

I hear a bird just like me, looking for home.

Alone, scared and shaken

By the nasty place we call the world

I catch a moment that I am at peace

With nature, life, god, and myself.

As I drift off to sleep I realize

I have wasted my life.

On this hammock

On this deserted island
