A Hand To Hold

Sometimes life gets tough,

it knocks us down in hopes it will win,

when life hits us like a bowling ball going

down a lane ready to hit some pins, we fight,

we empower it, we be stronger than it

when life knocks us down we lean on those around,

we turn to someone not for pitty, but for help

we turn around and lean on them

in hopes that they shall not leave our side,

that whom we lean on will only guide,

when we get knocked down by life and its rain

and clouds, we turn to a helpful hand

in hopes for a better day, after every dark sky,

there will be a beam brighter than the sun,

leading us to our future selves,

when life knocks us down,

we empower our old selves to create

and break a new beginning,

a helpful hand is all we need,

a helpful hand is what makes us,

a friend, mentor, counselor, and even family

is all we need through our cloud,

greater days even from the beyond,

forever remembered,

may you rest in peace
