Hand to Hold

Since I was born there was always a hand to hold

A hand that fed me

A hand that walked me to school each day

A hand that was always on my back during the bad days

There was always a hand to hold

Once I left home, that hand became less visible

I would trip and fall, there was no hand to hold

I would go shopping, there was no hand to hold

I would go to school, there was no hand to hold

Eventually, I lost sight of the hand as if it never existed

One day, I was in a cloud of darkness and depression

In that cloud I felt a ray of light hit my skin

I felt assured that everything will be all right

A feeling that I hadn’t felt since I was kid

I felt that there was a hand to hold

Even though it wasn’t there, I knew that deep down it will always be there for me

A hand to hold
