Hand-Holder
I cannot seem to understand
the reason that you take my hand
and bring me deep into your world-
I knew you'd always be my girl...
You always seem to know what's right
and comfort me in need at night.
What have I done that I get you?
Not something that I often do,
for I'm not known as brave or smart,
but with you I can play the part...
I'm known for what is known as bland
and still you take me by the hand
each day, and open every door
I could not, would not ask for more...
All the jocks, they crush on you.
They scare me good but all I do
is come right back and cry to you.
You hug me and caress me and
you wipe my tears and take my hand...
I dream to be a quarterback,
or wrestler, or I could run track
and make you back and be your world,
for that's what you deserve, my girl...
If poetry was what I do
you'd be so proud as I'm of you.
But I'll just pray until that day,
you stay with me and if I may
I'll take you to a movie and
while doing so I'll hold your hand...
