Hanging On

Does speaking have any impact?
Few people are lucky

Words heard and even heeded
My useless words
Screeching and searching from my throat
Trying to find reason to go on
Useless

Would keeping calm even mater?
Few people are lucky
Things get better
They make more sense
Scratches down the arms
In mind and on body
Broken

Will anyone even miss it?
Few people are lucky
These thoughts won’t leave
Darkness like smoke catching in the throat
Tears on a stained face
Wasteful
