Happily Ever After

I'm not one to open up easily

I keep my guard up at all times.

I've spent my whole life working on shielding my heart from being broken

Because I wouldn't stand a chance at going through the pain.

Nobody has been able to break through my barriers.

I've made sure of it.

When it comes to my heart

I am very cautious of who I let near

Admission isn't granted to just anyone.

And then you came along.

All that work put into making my barriers stronger than ever

Gone.

Somehow you were able to effortlessly pass by without authorization.

I didn't want to let you in

And I tried to make it clear.

But you give me this feeling I've never felt before.

What is this strange feeling?

Many questions swarm my mind.

Are you here to stay?

Will you handle my heart with care?

Is it too good to be true?

Whatever the answers may be

I know one thing's for sure

I don't want to lose this.

I've never met someone so genuine

So caring and thoughtful.

Someone who makes me feel incredibly special.

Maybe it's too soon to tell

But Lord with you by my side

I know it surely will be, happily a ever after.
