Happily Ever After
Dear sweet sister of mine,
I wanted to write you in a line.
But just one phrase wouldn’t do,
So I put this poem together for you.
Once upon a time in a land far away,
She sat inside sipping her latte.
While it may not have been a golden throne,
She was able to do it all on her own.
Unlike Cinderella at the ball,
She wasn’t waiting for midnight to fall.
Her shoes were not made of glass,
She preferred bare feet in the grass.
Despite what the fairytales said on the shelf,
She was strong enough to save herself.
Although the boys weren’t disarming,
She wasn’t looking for her own prince charming.
Even the mirror on the wall,
Would have had trouble making the call.
With looks to challenge the fair Snow White,
And the light in her eyes shining bright.
Unlike Belle and her kidnapper,
She was smart enough to escape that disaster.
Falling in love over a rose,
To some its romantic, I suppose.
Even Rapunzel stuck in her tower,
Should have known she had the power.
Beautiful girl you are stronger than you will ever know.
You should have realized that long ago.
He may have broken your heart,
But please don’t let yourself fall apart.
With a wave goodbye and a little laughter,
It’s time to make your own happily ever after.
