Happiness
He looks at the sky,
In the midnight,
Asking himself, “Why?
I see others everywhere.
They have so much
And yet they can’t share.
As I walk around in the cold
They just laugh
Why can’t I be that bold?
I just wish
That maybe one day
I’ll get a taste of that dish.”
He looks at the sky
On the hood of his truck
And asks himself, “ Why?
It makes no sense
I have so much
Where is that happiness?
The kids who have less
Laugh and have fun
They have it best.
My friends are after my cash
They are never there with me
To pick me up when I crash.
I just wish
That maybe one day
I’ll get a taste of that dish.”
He looks at the sky
With a smile
And asks,” Why?
Why did you give me
A wonderful home
A place I love to be.
I don't have much
And that’s okay
People are corrupted by such.
I’ve a family that cares
We have plenty,
Plenty to share.
It makes me sad to see
Others with burdens
Who have a guise of glee.
They won’t know
What it’s like to have enough
And be able to grow.
I just wish
That maybe I
Could feed them your dish.”
They look at the sky
These three
Wondering why.
Each has things
That they don't need.
The stuff that makes them sing.
The rich one, his money
It gets in the way
It makes him and his friends have a strange sort of funny.
The poor one, his sorrow
He needs to get up
And prepare for his tomorrow.
The last one’s the best
He’s got something
More than the rest.
He has God.
I don’t need to point his wrongs.
God is where he trods.
God will watch him day and night
In order to show him
What is wrong and what is right.
So while he looks at the sky
He’s thanking his God
And wondering why
God would help someone
Like him.
