Happiness

Happiness A simple word that is impossible for one person to define A word that is life altering A word that dictates the way that we should act and who we should be But what does it mean? Does it mean to have many friends? Does it mean to always smile? Does it mean to have a perfect family? Does it mean to be a star athlete? Does it mean to look a certain way or talk a certain way? Does it mean to have it all together? No. It is not always found in the midst of many others. It is not always found through smiles, for one can attest to the fabrications behind the grin. It is not always found in a perfect family, for no one family is without faults. It is not always found by what one is or what one does, for one’s personality beams far beyond the perfect game. It is not always found by the way one looks, for the fairest of all holds hurt and holds pain. It is not always found by having life all figured out, for life is a battle, And to win we must not always be happy It is the bad times and the sad times that build character. Happiness is a choice that we make each and every day. We do not have to smile all of the time or laugh all of the time. We can have faults and it is okay to feel down, But choosing to be happy through it all Is what gives us the courage to make the best of what we have.
