Happy birthday
I ask the heav'nly stars above
How I might send thee birthday wishes
For my impov'rished words won't do
Her birthday shortly comes
And I'm in complete disarray
Whilst seeking clever words to say
On what will be her special day.
Hark! Cupid counsels - "Do not fret
I'll make a poet of you yet
And whilst you'll never be a bard
Go pick your pen and write from your heart
Pen words directly from your heart
Write with Cupid's finest dart
There's one more thing that you must do
ensure your words are true
Now, I took Cupid at his word.
To my delight, my words were heard
I never penned a poem more fair
These piece I wrote for her
On this your special birthday
One vow I will make in rhyme
I'll cherish thee till the end of time
For she's too special not be cherish always.
