Happy Cries

The sun shines on me, and I begin to cast a shadow.
I have been refreshed by the cool summer rain,
That fell from the dark, grey sky yesterday evening.
My green body is happy to be cool,
And my crystal clear friend rolls off me swiftly and happily.

This morning I roll down the great green leaf,
After my long, hard journey last night.
I fell from the sad sky, for I was its tears.
I am excited where I am, on top of my friend, the leaf,
And we say goodbye I as leave and soak into the ground.

I blow in the soft breeze, watching my family do the same.
We all enjoy the happy cries of the rain,
Rolling down our backs, joyful to be free.
We watch as their journey ends,
Sinking into the low, dark mud.

We cry with joy and glee, all the thousands of us.
We enjoy the softness of the mud, as we soak into the ground.
We are enclosed by the brown warmth,
And it surrounds us like a thick fog.
Our journey is over, and we surrender to the fullness of our short life.

The rain soaks into the mud, as their mission has been accomplished.
The sky is once again happy, shining down on our green backs.
No more tears, no more grey, just rays of sun all the way.
We live on, happy and healthy,
And smile to ourselves, as the happy cries slowly fade away.
