happy/sad
you make me happy and sad
you make me cry out of laughter
and it feels so good
because this is what i sought after
i’ve wanted to feel your hand in mine
you stroking my thumb
you’re squeezing my palm
and my fingers go numb
but this isn’t pain
this is strength of us now
stronger than before
and i really don’t know how
we’ve come so far
since our first try at this
it was really awkward then
and it still kind of is
but the awkward isn’t bad
it’s the connection between us two
we understand our flaws
because they’re obvious and true
my eyes of black walnut
look into yours of sage
and in the book of my life
you’re turning a page
a new chapter, a new us
and our friendship adjusts
you are my best friend
i know that much is true
and these months i've waited
because i love you
