Hard 2 Overlook (H2O)

In places across the large desert Southwest

The gift that is water has made us feel blessed.

For when the day is hot and the air is dry,

Without our wet water we'd just simply die.

However, the topical issue at hand

Is exactly how much rain will come to our land.

From warm San Diego to cool Colorado,

The rivers carve paths through the canyons and shadows.

The new situation, much to our dismay,

Is that these old rivers could dry up someday.

"But someday is far! Will I still be around?"

I'm sorry to tell you they're drying right now.

They're being consumed by our lawns, pools, and fountains,

While each year the snowpack is less on the mountains.

Though it's certainly odd and it's one for the books,

Our H2O drought's just Hard 2 Overlook.
