The Hardest Part of Life is to Let Go
The Hardest Part of Life is to Let Go
To open my heart or not....
A truly simple question, is it not?
How could anyone refuse such a virtue?
Love is the strongest passion of this vast universe.
Love to some is like rain in a dessert, just one drop will quench thy thirst.
But what if the water is poisonous and blackens the veins with spite and hatred.
Tis only an afterthought, because in the moment, poison could never taste sweeter.
I can not bear these shackles around my soul any longer.
Romantic words forged from the fires of thy heart, swiped away with a mere laugh.
Was it love or was I played a fool.
What’s one to think about when nothing is right, besides all that is wrong.
Hamlet and I could share a word or two.
A heart frozen as a stone was all that remained.
Until one day that stone cracked and crumbled to free a once trapped soul.
For no longer will I be oppressed by the sorrow of my past, so just this once I will let go.
While her words were filled with venom, my true love would be filled with nectar.
For nothing is sweeter than love for life.
Blue skies, family, loyal friends, steaming hot food, what else could one ask for.
Maybe life is not all that blue, just maybe it’s every color, from hot pink to lawn green.
Could it be that one soul out of the billions, is just a stepping stone to something greater.
For how can I heal my broken heart if I hold on to the weighted past.
Maybe this heartache is a lesson to be learned.
To never forget that love is not a singular notion.
To hold true what my heart proclaims.
For if my soul is liberated from the past, then so will my life.
I can bear the past if only to see a better tomorrow.
